Biosensing and Theranostics Using Functionalized Magnetic and Plasmonic Nanoparticles

Multiplex biosensing techniques have been developed for rapid measurements of ultra-low concentrations of small molecules, oligonucleotides and disease biomarkers based on gold and magnetic nanoparticles. The optimal recognition receptors were selected by low-coherent interferometry. The unique for express methods detection limits were achieved: for DNA and small molecules - up to 20 fM, for protein biomarkers - up to 6 pg/ml. New methods have been proposed for targeted drug delivery with nanoparticles to suppress cancer cells in vitro and tumors in animals in vivo, e.g., for significant inhibition of growth of lung metastases of aggressive melanoma.
