Calculation of Ion Flow Fields of HVDC Transmission Lines by Coupling Flux Tracing Method with Finite Element Method

In this paper, a flux tracing method is used to initialize finite element calculation when the ion flow density and electric field strength of HVDC transmission line are calculated. The calculation results on the ground surface show great agreement with the long-term measurements on a ±800 kV dc transmission line. The method can obtain more accurate field distribution in the space compared with flux tracing method. And it's more efficient compared with FEM.
