Research on Serial and Parallel Electromagnetic Transient Simulation Structure

Electromagnetic transient simulation uses three-phase instantaneous values for calculation. Compared with electromechanical transient simulation, it has large amount of simulation, so it needs to adopt a parallel simulation method. To perform full electromagnetic simulation on general computer, this paper proposed a series-parallel hybrid simulation architecture suitable for large scale power system with low-density parallel computing. Base on the characteristics of double-sided read-write and double-sided time restriction of distributed parameter lines, this shared memory read-write mode has a natural mutual exclusion, which fundamentally eliminates the conflict of memory data and does not need to introduce the mutual exclusion mechanism. The method of shared memory can realize multi-threaded and cross program computing quickly. At the same time, the method based on shared memory and socket technology can realize parallel computing of cluster. Finally, an example of large-scale power grid is given, and the results on different general computers are compared to verify the effectiveness of the proposed architecture.
