Finite Element Simulation Study on Wear under Pantograph-Catenary System with Electric Current

The pantograph and the contact line constitute a pair of special friction pairs, between which there are mechanical wear caused by friction and electrical wear under the action of strong current. The current-carrying wear of the pantograph-catenary system seriously affects the safe operation of the train and restricts the further acceleration of the train. Based on the improved Archard wear theory model, a mechanical wear model of the pantograph-catenary system with temperature field and stress field coupling was constructed in this paper. On this basis, considering the effect of the strong current between the pantograph-catenary system, the combined model of current-carrying wear with the coupling of multiple physical fields such as electromagnetic field, temperature field and stress field was established. The finite element analysis software of multiple physical fields was used to simulate the distribution of stress and temperature between the pantograph and the contact line, and the wear depth of pantograph slide was calculated. Finally, the wear distribution in time domain was obtained. It provides a theoretical basis for guiding the geometry of pantograph slide and improving the service life of the pantograph-catenary system.
