A New Field Modulation Machine With Hybrid Magnetic Sources

This paper proposes a new field modulation machine with hybrid magnetic sources (HMSFMM) which are composed of NdFeB magnet, ferrite magnet, and direct current field excitations. The topology, operating principle of the proposed HMSFMM are described. The electromagnetic performances of the proposed machine are predicted using finite element analysis to show the merits of wide speed range, low cogging torque and torque ripple at flux-weakening state.
