Intelligence and Autonomy Extension for Low-cost Freshwater Inspection Vehicles

This paper presents design and development of a low-cost Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV). The main application domain is the exploration of irrigation canals in Pakistan. The underwater vehicle is designed to work instead of human beings because there are some areas that are difficult to reach for humans and it can be very costly and time-consuming activity. Human performances for underwater tasks are also limited. Thus, a dedicated tool or device such as a the AUV design presented in this paper is required in helping humans to perform these tasks.
