The Experimental Model of the Cantilever Beam with Piezoelectric Patch Elements

This paper discusses the approach of transporting from a real test stand of cantilever beam containing a piezoelectric actuator and sensor into the Simulink model and at the same time use this model to design an observer to observe separated modes. The fixed end of the beam is excited using the kinematic exciter while Doppler Laser is used for calibration. Experimental identification is made by using the Discrete Fourier Transform and the Simulink model is made using the State Space modeling. The aim was to create a simple and easy to understand tool for testing, debugging and a better understanding of new control algorithms.
