Role of Asynchronous Motor Modelling in Driven Railway Wheelset Dynamical Simulation Model

In this paper, we proposed an improvement in existing Asynchronous Motor (ASM) Simulink model, considering the possibility of replacing the existing ASM mathematical model based on dq transformation, with another proposed one based on ABC natural coordinate frame. This idea leads us to consider a replacement of standardly implemented PI controllers in control of the torque delivered from the traction motor, with a non-linear model predictive control (MPC). We expect not only better control results, but also a better selection and use of directly measurable quantities in the detection of an unsuitable operating condition such as ripple in torque, loss of adhesion linked with loss of power decreased to select the best voltage vector to control the torque of the rail wear, etc.
