Power Theories Application Rationality in Series Filter-Compensating Device Control System

The increase in the number of nonlinear, asymmetric, sharply changing industrial consumers has led to a decrease in the electricity quality. This led to reduced the equipment service life and malfunctions are connected to the same line with such loads. Power active filter-compensating devices have been created to protect sensitive electrical receivers. Previous researches analysis has shown that one of the factors influencing compensatory properties a filter compensating device is set control signal definition algorithm. Usually, when the filter-compensating device is connected in parallel, power theory is used as a control signal determining algorithm. However, the principle a series active filter-compensating device operation is differs. Therefore, the power theory use in the control system may not be rational. To test this, a series three-phase active filter-compensating device model with p-q theory as part of a control system in a virtual environment was created. As a result of the model study, an increase in the voltage total harmonic distortion factor was detected and a decrease in the fundamental voltage harmonic share was recorded. Such results indicate the irrationality of the power theories control system use of a series active filter-compensating device.
