Investigation of a high-speed interconnect

The use of high-speed applications put a high demand on the interconnects. Methods to investigate the distortion and crosstalk introduced by the interconnects is therefore crucial. Different techniques are available both at the design and at the verification stage of the printed circuit board. In order to determine the quality of a high-speed channel for different operating conditions the S-parameters could be utilized and processed in order to evaluate the performance. This paper presents an overview of a high-speed channel analyzed through the S-parameters utilizing a commercial tool. The performance of the channel and the different techniques are described.
