Speech recognition based IICC - Intelligent Infant Cry Classifier

Speech recognition is the capability of a system to understand the uttered word/speech/voice. There are so many ways that speech recognition can be used and one of the major application of it is in the healthcare field. Crying is a type of speech and a way for infants to express their needs or sensibilities to their parents. Understanding what a baby needs is always been a very challenging task for new or unskilled parents. Various researches/studies have proven that infants/babies' cries are variant depending upon their needs. There are different types of baby cries such as cold, sleepy, eructation, fear, and so on but there are three main basic cries: hunger, pain, and, discomfort. Realizing the cry of a baby has always been a challenging task but not impossible to decode and this can be performed with the help of an intelligent machine framework with high accuracy rates. The research paper presents the comparative analysis of existing child crying classification techniques proposed by different researchers in terms of its accuracy rate. The prime objective of this research work is to propose an intelligent infant cry classifier, which can be used both efficiently and effectively with the help of new and unskilled parents to find out the reason for an infant's cry.
