A Simple Model for Dye Based Solid-State Random Lasers

Random laser efficiency of dye-based solid-state materials is investigated by using a picosecond pumping regime. A model which uses a distribution of photon paths with different lengths, as well as a sharing of population inversion among the different photon paths, satisfactorily describes the observed random laser behavior.
