A Stochastic Cournot Game Based Optimal Energy Bidding for Multiple Microgrids

As a miniature of smart grids, multiple microgrids (MMGs) provide an effective approach to service representative consumers and improve energy efficiency of power systems. For the energy bidding problem for MMGs, a stochastic Cournot game based energy bidding approach is developed to adjust energy bids and energy production while handling uncertainties from renewable generation and loads. Moreover, a stochastic quadratic programming (SQP) is proposed to maximize bidding profits for individual MGs belonging to different entities. And then the SQP is converted into equivalent Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions, which can be solved by general commercial solvers. Finally, the proposed energy bidding approach is tested by comparing different simulation cases. The results show that the optimal bidding profiles for all MGs can be obtained and the impacts of random factors can be reduced using the stochastic Cournot game based energy bidding approach.
