Analysis of Effective Index of Circular Waveguide with Material and Radius for Different Operating Wavelengths

Structural parameters such as wavelength, material, and dimension plays a pivotal role in modeling a waveguide. The work presented in this paper encompasses analysis of effective refractive index (n
_eff
) of circular waveguide for different wavelengths, radii, and materials. Importance of n
_eff
in order to attain optical field confinement into the waveguide core and to interface integrated optical devices with optical fiber is investigated. COMSOL Multiphysics is utilized for simulation and results are verified using MATLAB.
