3-D SAR Geometry and LFM Waveform for Ship Target Imaging

Three-dimensional (3-D) geometry and Linear Frequency Modulated (LFM) waveform used in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) signal formation and imaging are in the focus of the present work. A 3-D target's reflectivity function that describes the shape or image of the target is defined. An image reconstruction algorithm including two Fourier transforms and phase correction procedure is created. The phase correction function is presented by a polynomial of second order. To evaluate the quality of the reconstructed SAR image an entropy function is used. To prove the correctness of SAR geometry, kinematics of ship target, LFM SAR signal model, and image reconstruction algorithm simulation experiments are carried out.
