Success Factors of a Combined Green, Lean, and Six Sigma Strategy for Environmental Performance

Greenhouse gases, wastewater, hazardous compounds, and resource conservation are some of the environmental issues manufacturing organizations face. For reducing such environmental concerns, manufacturing organizations have implemented different mitigation strategies. Green, lean, and six sigma are recognized suitable approaches for reducing organizational wastes, which in turn mitigate environmental issues. However, manufacturing firms face numerous challenges while adopting these strategies, separately or in combination. Further, there is a lack of research in the exploration of factors affecting the successful execution of a joint green, lean, and six sigma strategy. The purpose of this research is to determine the critical success factors, which play an important role in effectively implementing a green, lean, and six sigma strategy for improving environmental performance. This research also develops a holistic model, which combines the critical success factors of green, lean, and six sigma implementation to address the environmental aspects of manufacturing organizations.
