Model for Implementing Biometrics in Library Management System using “Kensington VeriMark”

Fingerprint scanners were first invented in the year 1892 by Eduardo Alvarez who was Argentinian inspector. They were first used as a means of identification in forensics and criminology but as technology advanced over the years its purpose remained the same but was widely used for various other purposes. Biometrics have not only made identification easier but have also revolutionized security in technology now unlocking your phone takes you less than a second because of the different biometric options available to lock and secure your device. Thus with the invention of finger print scanners we not only have an effective security and identification system but also an efficient way to utilize time for identification and security. This paper further looks into the working, types and different uses of a fingerprint scanner and how it benefits the society. In this paper we have proposed a model of integrating biometrics (fingerprints), in library management systems using the “Kensington VeriMark” biometric scanner.
