A Novel Dielectric Loss Measurement Method for Power Cable Based on Oscillating Wave Test Technology

The dielectric loss is one of the vital indicators for the insulation status of power cables. However, the current dielectric loss measurement methods which have insufficient accuracy cannot meet field test requirements. In order to solve the shortcomings of the current method, this paper proposes a dielectric loss measurement method based on oscillating wave test technology. During each shot of the oscillating wave, the voltage and the current of the cable are acquired simultaneously. The waveforms parameters are extracted to obtain the accurate dielectric loss. The simulation results prove the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method.
