From Darwin to Monitoring the Fetal Development - a Multi-Score using Categories of Heart Rate Patterns

The ontogenetic development of an individual is mainly determined by the phylogenetic development of its population. The analysis of heart rate patterns according to those characteristics of phylogeny and ontogeny is predestinated for prenatal diagnosis with implication for improved prenatal care and the ultimate endpoint of better health over the total life. Based on extended previous analyses we propose an OR-conjunction multi-score that evaluates deviations of short and long term amplitude fluctuations, complexity, and fractal scaling from control. This work is devoted to the pioneering work on the link between phylogeny and ontogeny by Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919) at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena.
