Link Quality Analysis of MICS (402-405MHz) Band

The deployment of sensor nodes inside the human body is efficient for early detection of diseases & real-time health monitoring. The communication between different sensor nodes & a central compute sensor node can’t be achieved by conventional frequency bands, so, one of the frequency bands devised for body area network is the Medical Implant Communication Service (MICS) band that lies in the frequency range of 402-405 MHz, approved by the medical council. The reliability between these sensor nodes is the crucial factor for achieving error-free data. In this paper, the critical link quality analysis between the transmitter & receiver sensor nodes are observed for Wireless body area network (WBAN) channel models CM-1 & CM-2 using the MICS frequency band. The simulated results for link quality parameters such as path loss, signal to noise ratio (SNR), bit error rate (BER) have been evaluated for CM-1 and CM-2, and critically compared.
