Chemical Reaction Optimization based Fuzzy-PID Controller for Automatic Load Frequency Control with SMES

One of the main cause of line tripping and blackout is drifts in frequency which mostly caused by the variations in Load. These drifts can’t be completely eliminated but can be reduced. Automatic Load Frequency Control (LFC) is the mechanism to keep the frequency constant which helps in reducing the drifts in frequency. In order to optimize their parameter combination of two-area non-reheat thermal power system is considered along with Fuzzy-PID controller & SMES (Super-conducting Magnetic Energy Storage System). Chemical Reaction Optimization Technique is used. Properly tuned parameters can effectively give the desired low frequency deviation.
