Structural and Parametric Synthesis of Active Vibration Isolation System

This paper discusses a single-mass oscillatory system with an electric actuator. The actuator can be a linear electric machine or a magnetorheological damper. The paper shows that the design and improvement of electrical actuators in vibration isolation systems have been studied well to date. In most cases, such systems are subject to random disturbances. In that case, the desired vibration isolation performance is attained by implementing different controls. For some facilities like stationary equipment or transports whose movement is associated with recurrent irregularities of the same shape and amplitude, input disturbances can be considered harmonic. The paper shows the structure of the vibration isolation system it presents, and dwells upon the mathematical models of the required functional links. It further explains why a specific damping ratio has been chosen for the system based on the estimated resonance frequencies and relative vibration amplitude of the protected object that are presented herein as functions of the damping ratio. The authors hereof discuss a method for synthesizing a controller that is capable of reducing the maximum frequency response to a specific value in the domain of the resonant frequency. The paper presents the output of simulation. It thus proves a closed vibration isolation system featuring the synthesized controller effective. The paper concludes with key findings and recommendations on how to use the research results.
