Performance analysis of MOV single-chip and double-chip parallel connections under different pulse times

In order to study the different performance of MOV in lightning protector under single-chip and double-chip parallel connection. In this paper, the high-voltage impact test of MOV is carried out by using single pulse combined wave generator and simultaneous sequence multi-pulse generator respectively. Comparing the voltage-ampere characteristics of single-chip and double-chip in parallel, the high voltage resistance of each of them was analyzed. It is found that the protection level and shock resistance of two parallel chips are better than that of single or multi-pulse chips; the heat dissipation ability of MOV plays an important role in shock resistance, and the heat dissipation ability of two parallel MOV is better than that of single MOV. Therefore, the double-chip parallel combination is more reliable and economical than the monolithic MOV under different pulse times.
