Study on Multipoint-Ranging-Target-Positioning Technologies for UAV

A target positioning method (mathematical model) and supporting photoelectric platform (physical model) based on laser ranging is proposed, which can be applied to ground and sea surface target geodetic coordinates information acquisition of UAV, especially low-cost UAV. The problem of photoelectric target consistency in the laser ranging process is solved by introducing image tracking. The impact of ranging Points' geometry configuration and laser ranging error on positioning accuracy of multipoint-ranging-target-positioning method is emphatically discussed. A practical geometric dilution of precision (GDOP) constructor is put forward. Kalman Filter is used to estimate the ranging points in real time, and the positioning process is converged recursively to improve the positioning accuracy. The study preliminary proved the practicability of the proposed model, and the effectiveness and feasibility of positioning method. As the aircraft trajectory can be planned and the target positioning process can be controlled in real time. The model and method proposed in this article can be applied to calculate the target position only by laser ranging and measuring point position, without complex north finding, attitude and photoelectric platform state measuring.
