Preparation of Sn nanosheets by electrodeposition in polycarbonate template

In the past decades, with the maturity of nanomaterial synthesis and characterization, nanomaterials play an important role in new materials, information, energy and other technical fields. In this paper, Sn nanosheets and nanospheres were prepared at a diameter of about 1~2 μm by polycarbonate (PC) template electrodeposition. The preparation process consisted of disposing the plating solution, electrodepositing Sn, dissolving the PC template, and filtering to finally obtain Sn nanosheets. Its morphology and composition were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDS) on a field emission-scanning electron microscope. In the process of nanosheets preparation, it was found that the growth morphology of Sn has a certain relationship with the orientation of the copper substrate. Sn can grow into laminate or cross-like clusters due to the influence of copper orientation and PC template. These results provide new insights into micro- and nanoscale phase transition, and the prepared Sn nanomaterials can be used as solder materials for electronic packaging.
