Diagnosis Report on Voltage Sag for Different Power Distribution Networks

In this paper, four different types of power system faults are simulated for the assessment of voltage sag for three different power networks (i.e., Transmission, Distribution, and Underground systems). A comparative analysis is carried out for an industrial power network based on different voltage sag indices. Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) method is adopted for the simulation of different types of faults and its location because power system faults are random in nature. Real-time historical data are analyzed for the evaluation of Fault Rate (FR). Scatter plot, Area of Vulnerability (AOV), and voltage sag table are discussed to identify the affected area due to voltage sag. This paper is helpful for the industrial personnel to prepare the mitigation strategy due to voltage sag to minimize the malfunctioning of sensitive equipment as well as financial losses.
