Optimization of Nano-Copper as H2S Gas Sensing Material by Quantitatively Evaluating Thermodynamic Enthalpy with Resonant Microcantilever

This paper proposes a method for optimizing Cu nanocrystals (denoted as nano-Cu) as sensing materials for specific H
2
S detection by the quantitatively extracted enthalpy (
$\Delta H^{\circ}$
) with resonant microcantilevers. The activities of two nano-Cu with different exposed crystal planes are discriminated and their suitable applications are reasonably suggested. The much higher H
2
S adsorption activity on Cu(111) compared with Cu(100) is further proved by the calculation results of density functional theory. The Cu(111) with higher sensitivity is suitable for endogenous H
2
S detection in biomedical diagnosis fields, and the Cu(100) with satisfied repeatability can be used for H
2
S real-time monitoring for environmental protection.
