Deposition of CuFeS2 and Cu2FeSnS4 thin films and nanocrystals using diisobutyldithiophosphinato-metal precursors

The research work presented herein reports the deposition of CuFeS
₂
and CuFeSe
₂
thin films and nanoparticles using diisobutyldithiophosphnatometal complexes as molecular precursors. Copper, iron and tin complexes belonging to diisobutyldithio-phosphinatometal [M
_x
(
ⁱ
Bu
₂
PS
₂
)y] family (where M = Cu, Fe and Sn) have been synthesized in high yield. These complexes have been used as molecular precursors for deposition of CuFeS
₂
and Cu
₂
FeSnS
₄
thin films by aerosol assisted chemical vapor deposition (AACVD). Similarly, these molecular precursors have also been used for colloidal preparation of CuFeS
₂
and Cu
₂
FeSnS
₄
nanoparticles.
