Experimental study of factors affecting the High Power Microwave measurements

Research on High Power Microwaves (HPM) is rapidly progressing for various applications in commercial and military environments. Powers in the range of mega watts(MW) to giga watts(GW) are being generated. Adding to the complexity of generating such higher powers, measurement to characterize the systems, is also difficult. Single shot high power pulsed measurements is considered here and the uncertainties that could cause substantial errors in the measurement values are highlighted. The practical measurements carried out gave an insight into the most unseen problems that are often neglected.
