Behavioral Modeling of Fractional-N PLL Based FMCW Synthesizers

This paper presents a methodology for simulation and design exploration of frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) synthesizers. The methodology relies on behavioral modeling of the synthesizers components and leads to a reduction of the simulation time by five orders of magnitude. In addition the synthesizer has been fabricated in an IBM 0.18μm SiGe BiCMOS technology to prove to validity of the methodology.
