Feasibility Study of Fast Output Sampling based State Estimation Technique

In this work, feasibility of a fast output sampling (FOS) based state estimation technique is presented. The FOS algorithm is derived by sampling the output of the system with relatively higher rate than the input update and the same is employed for the linearized model of continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) at the steady state operating point. The performance of the proposed algorithm is assessed against the standard Luenburger observer. Simulation results show that the FOS algorithm gives excellent transient response and at the same time, it requires careful selection of the sampling time as it is not so susceptible to the measurement noise.
