Designing and Prototyping the Human-centered ELectric Prosthetic (HELP) Hand

The majority of amputations in India are lower arm amputations. Due to stigma in Indian society, many amputees hide their amputation even at the cost of functionality, wearing purely cosmetic prostheses. Partnering with the Indian non-profit, BMVSS, the goal of this project is to design a low cost, durable, and culturally-appropriate electric prosthetic hand to promote equal opportunity for amputees socially and economically.
