A Unified Approach to Design Compact Multi-Way Bagley Polygon Power Dividers

Planar multi-way Bagley Polygon Power Divider (BPPD) and its compact form have existed. Most of them have an odd number of outputs. Some have an even number of outputs but with a different design approach. This paper extends the idea of a BPPD with an odd number of sides to those with even number of sides, with the only modification of removing one of the sides. Unified formulas for design are thus obtained. In addition, the method of varied characteristic impedances is applied to a 6-way BPPD design as an example, resulting in an area reduction of 93.7%.
