The UAPO Solution for the Plane Wave Diffraction by a DPS/DNG Material Coated Wedge

The plane wave diffraction problem relevant to an arbitrary-angled coated wedge is here addressed in the case of normal incidence with respect to the edge. The composite structure is formed by a perfectly conducting wedge that is coated by two thin uniform layers joining at the edge. One of them consists of a standard lossy double-positive material, while the other one is a lossy double-negative metamaterial. The proposed solution results from the application of the uniform asymptotic physical optics approach and is presented in simple closed form. It allows one to compensate the jumps of the geometrical optics field at the shadow boundaries.
