Sound Activated Wildlife Capturing

Human-Animal Interaction can prove dangerous for both the species and therefore it is difficult to get the wildlife footage. In order to get the desired footage, cameramen needs to wait for hours or even few days without moving. Therefore, we propose an automated system with the two microphone sound detectors and an ultrasonic sensor which turns on the camera and captures the animal image, only when the animal's sound or motion is detected. The microphone or ultrasonic input is processed by the raspberry pi 3 in order to detect animal sound. If neither sound nor motion is detected, then the camera is kept off, the pi turns on the camera only when sound or motion is detected, and captures the image seen and will be stored in memory for later viewing and also sent to the respective email address. Thus we obtain the desired footage from the camera and thus saving unnecessary battery power and storage space. Camera captures the images of the wild animals on the film and can be used by the ecological researchers. Some of the research applications include the nest ecology study and detection of rare species. This project calibrates the design and construction of wildlife image capturing with the help of microphone sound detector and ultrasonic sensor. The design works to capture the images of any animal which is located at certain distance away from the implemented circuit and stores the captured image in the memory, then it is sent to the respective email address. Results show the system response is consistent and accurate.
