Optimal Scheduling of an Islanded Microgrid with Complex Impedances Considering Load Demand and Renewable Power Uncertainties

This study proposes an optimal scheduling strategy for an islanded AC microgrid. The reduction of operating cost and emission from generation activities are the two objectives taken in this work. In this work, we have considered the effect of complex impedances in droop-controlled dispatchable units by using a tailor-made power flow program as a sub-routine of the optimization problem. Load and renewable generation uncertainties are modeled using the “stochastic scenario” method. Uncertainties are then incorporated into the optimization program. We have solved the stochastic optimization problem having two objectives using the “max-min” composition of the fuzzy set theory. Each of the objectives is assigned a linear membership function. We have determined the extent of satisfaction of the overall objective by taking the minimum of the two membership functions. Particle swarm optimization is deployed to maximize the membership function value of the overall goal. Simulation studies on a thirty-three node microgrid system validate the proposed approach.
