A Dual Band Differential Planar Inverted F Antenna

Differential antennas are increasingly used in highly-integrated transceivers. A novel dual band differential planar inverted F antenna (PIFA) is described in this paper. A brief review of the differential PIFA schemes and the design of differential PIFA for dual band operation are presented. Simulated results of return loss and radiation patterns at 2.4 GHz and 3.5 GHz are given. The proposed dual band differential PIFA overcomes the drawbacks of the existing differential dual band PIFA design with an easy integrated appearance and more compact size, thus has potential applications in high-level integration of transceivers for wireless communication systems.
