Humidity Sensing System Using Plastic Optical Fiber

In the current paper we proposed a new method to measure humidity by means of the transmission losses occurring through an uncoated optical fiber. The measuring principle behind this method was developed and tested in a small-scale laboratory environment. A standard system for measuring air humidity was necessary as a reference, so an NTC temperature measurement component was used to fulfil this requirement. The whole system is characterized by simplicity, since most of the others employ complicated chemical deposition processes.
