An Unified EKV MOSFET Model to Achieve Better Performance of Practical MOS Circuits Using Verilog-A

This paper presents a combined methodology, based on EKV (ENZ-KRUMMENACHER-VITTOZ) compact model which is implemented in Verilog-A and verified for its functionality using cadence software suite. Traditionally, we design any circuit using MOSFET's by considering its various regions of operation i.e., Cut-off region, Linear region and Saturation region. But when implemented using simulation tools we find upto 40% of deviation. So, in order to bridge the gap between the deviation of results between them we developed a model by considering most of the practical aspects of a MOS transistor. Here unified EKV model is developed using different reported literatures and is integrated with other circuit elements to check the functionality of the system. By using this we can bridge the gap between theoretical models and simulator models and deviation of results is expressed in terms of percentages. Then we integrated the developed MOSFET model with other circuit elements which are present in the library of Cadence Software Simulation Suite, then we plot the responses like transient response, AC response and compared the results by plotting all the plots on the single plane by importing .csv file from Cadence to MATLAB for better visualization in order to compare the results.
