Impact Analysis of Mobility on Physical Layer Security of mmWave Networks

Due to the large amount of data transmitted through millimeter wave (mmWave) networks, security of such networks is imperative. Physical layer security is widely recognized for its capability to supplement traditional cryptography based security. In mmWave networks, movement of users forces the beams of the transmitter and receiver beams to be tuned frequently for alignment. The signal-to-noise ratio variations introduced by user mobility are much higher for mmWave due to the use of directional beams. Existing physical layer security analysis of mmWave networks are limited since they do not consider the impact of mobility. Therefore, in this work, we analyze the impact of mobility on the mmWave physical layer security. We provide analytical model for the secrecy metrics of mmWave user's under random waypoint mobility model. We support our analytical model with numerical simulations.
