Antenna Array for Radiosonde Tracking Radar

This paper explores the phased antenna array for meteorological radar with switching beams for radiosonde tracking. Antenna array consists of the 4-element small phase antenna array for short area tracking and four in-phase 18- element subarrays for far area tracking. We have achieved the reduction of the side lobe level by 7 dB compared to the original antenna array due to the new feed network and the chosen layout with the overlap of the radiated elements in the subarrays. The antenna array layout of the square patch elements is shown. The radiation patterns of the antenna for the wide and narrow beams are demonstrated.
