Examination of Interior Winding Synchronous Motor with Improved Torque and Reduced AC Copper Loss

Currently, there is a need for ultrahigh-speed motors, or those that exceed 100,000 rpm such as turbochargers and vacuum cleaners. Coreless motors are a suitable candidate, except that they produce low torque and yield much alternating current (AC) copper loss. We herein proposed an interior winding synchronous motor (IWSM) with winding molded by magnetic composite material to improve the torque and reduce AC copper loss via control of magnetic flux path.
