Menelik: A detailed anatomical human head model for electromagnetic computations

This paper reports the work in progress towards developing a detailed human head and shoulder model, named “Menelik”, for electromagnetic computations. The use of human body computational models for medical device design and safety analysis is growing. As a significant contribution to this progress, we have developed a detailed human head and shoulder surface mesh model named “Menelik”, based on the Visible Human Project (VHP) male image data set. The Menelik model has 23 different anatomical structures that were classified based on their electromagnetic material properties. The model was tested by simulating a scenario of transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS). Upon completion, the model will be freely available for the scientific community.
