Numerical Thermofluid Simulation of Decaying Arc Behavior in CO2/O2/C5F10O (C5-PFK) and CO2/C4F7N(C4-PFN) Considering More Than Nona-atomic Molecules

This paper reports numerical thermofluid simulations for decaying arcs in CO
2
/O
2
/C

F10O (C5-PFK) and CO
2
/C
4
F
7
N (C4-PFN) gases taking into account more than nona-atomic molecules on the assumption of local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) condition. In this calculation, 88 species in CO2/O2/C5F10O (C5-PFK) and 160 species in CO
2
/C
4
F
7
N (C4-PFN) were considered. Using the calculated thermodynamic and transport properties, numerical thermofluid simulation was conducted for arc plasmas in 10%C

F

0+80%CO
2
+10%0

gas mixture, 10%C

F
7
N+90%CO2 gas mixture and 100% CO2 gas, respectively, for free recovery condition. Results showed 10%C
4
F
7
N+90%CO
2
arc showed a slightly slow eletron density decay than other gases.
