A Novel Modular Transverse Flux Linear Permanent Magnet Vernier Machine with Halbach Arrays and Consequent Poles

Linear permanent magnet vernier machines (LPMVMs) for direct-drive servo applications are attracting more and more attentions due to its performances of high force density, rapid dynamic, high reliability, and so on. In recent years, the transverse flux structures are applied in LPMVMs to further enhance the force density of the LPMVMs, but it may increase the difficulty of manufacture and cost of the system. In order to reduce the manufacture difficulty, a modular transverse-flux consequent-pole linear permanent magnet vernier machine (TC-LPMVM) is proposed in this digest. To demonstrate the effect of the Halbach array, the proposed machine will be compared to the TC-LPMVM that adopts a same primary structure and a regular bipolar secondary with 3-D finite element analysis.
