Performance Analysis of Shoot Through Control Approaches for Z-source Inverters

This paper aims to provide a full mathematical analysis and detailed comparison of four control strategies (SBC simple boost control, MBC maximum boost control, MCBC maximum constant boost control and MCBCth maximum constant boost control with third harmonic injection) developed for the purpose of controlling the Z-source inverters. Unlike the traditional inverters the impedance network in the Z-source inverter provides one extra switching state called shoot-through state, which ensures the unique buck-boost feature. An extensive simulation of different studied approaches is performed using Matlab SIMULINK, and the obtained results are interpreted in terms of the magnitude and the quality of the output voltages.
