The Instantaneous Power Theory of Multiphase Power Supply Systems and Its Application to Energy-Saving Shunt Active Filtering

In this paper, the instantaneous power theory of multiphase power supply systems has been further developed by substantiating new relations for instantaneous active current and instantaneous apparent power as solutions of the corresponding extreme problems. The application of the formulas of the matrix-vector algebra made it possible to obtain a new decomposition of the load current of the multiphase power system on the instantaneous active current and the inactive current of compensation. It is the theoretical basis for constructing a system of shunt active filtration in real time without the electric energy storage devices with the minimum possible losses. The new calculation ratio for the gain coefficient is obtained for the power loss in the transmission line when using SAF with the specified control strategy. The results of the computer experiment confirm the adequacy of the proposed formulas of the instantaneous power theory of multiphase power systems.
