Method of improving isolation between co-located receive and transmit antennas in Portable Radars

In radar systems, having co-located transmit and receive antennas isolation between antennas is a key parameter. This paper reports the design of single sided and double sided FSS structures to improve isolation between two closely packed transmitter and receiver antennas. The proposed Single sided FSS provided more than 15dB improvement in isolation. The Double sided FSS structures have improved the isolation bandwidth. Experimental results have been provided for both FSS structures to validate the proposed method.
