Surface Morphology Analysis After Sintered Carbon Milling Process

This study investigates the surface of a sintered carbide specimen after milling. The workpiece surface quality as a function of variable machining variables (a

) is examined. The milling process is performed on a sintered carbide grade T10MG rectangular plate with the dimensions 5×40×170 mm using the Sphero-CVD ball nose end mill (Ø6) from FRAISA. Functional relations between workpiece surface stereometry and machining variables are described. It is demonstrated that 3D surface roughness parameters greatly depend on such variables as feed per tooth, depth of cut and width of cut. Obtained surfaces are processed and analyzed with the Alicona InfiniteFocus measurement system. Experimental results are discussed and presented in the form of plots and tables.
