Dynamic Characteristic Analysis of Permanent Magnet Toroidal Motor

This paper introduces the special structure and working principle of permanent magnet toroidal motor and analyzes its dynamic characteristics. Considering the influence of the planets rotation on the magnetic flux linkage in the revolution, the inductance parameter and flux linkage of the toroidal motor are derived with the structure parameters. By transforming the electromagnetic parameters in three-phase stationary coordinate to the two-phase rotating coordinate, the dynamic mathematical model of the permanent magnet toroidal motor is deduced, which reflects the particularity of the motor compared with the ordinary motor. The dynamic response of the toroidal motor is simulated and analyzed by using MATLAB. By comparing the waveforms of current, speed and torque under no-load and load conditions. The results show that the electromagnetic parameters of permanent magnet toroidal motor are periodic and time-varying, which makes the simulated waveform fluctuate periodically, this is a unique and reasonable phenomenon. After loading, the response of waveform is faster, the impulse is obviously smaller, and the waveform is more stable. The research results provide a theoretical basis for the control of permanent magnet toroidal motor.
